Olympos - Diafani

Breakfast was served outdoors from 8.00 to 9.00.

The host family took care of everything helped by a waitress/cleaninglady.
For breakfast you could chose between Continental or Omelette with bacon. Good and tasty.
We rented a car not far from the hotel. Just a small car that could take us from A to B and back again.

The car was a Hyundai Getz and it was small. It took a bit of mingling with the gears to make the car take us up and down the mountains.
  We started out for Olympos.

We didn't have any map så we used the GPS on Lones phone. It told us that there was 26 km from our hotel to Olympos.
On the way we were lured to go a wrong way so we had to go back again.
As time went by we became aware that the GPS hadn't told the truth when it said 26 km. The route was at least 43 km.
Olympos lies impressively between two mountain peaks.
The inhabitants have fled from the coastal areas to the mountains where a part of them still wear the traditional clothes.

We had to park outside the town because the streets were too narrow for cars.
We bought a couple of Frappes from this lovely lady. She reminded us a bit of a Danish actress.
The mountains were covered by clouds because of the wind, we were told. It was quite windy the first couple of days and the last couple of days.
The middle days there was a breeze and therefore no clouds around the mountaintops.
One of the main things for us when we go to Greese is to have a Gyros Pita.
The one we had wasn't quite right - there was crisps in it in stead of chips. But it was good anyway.
From Olympos we drove to Diafani.
As per tradition Lone had to be photographed by a fountain.

We had a coke in a taverna and a lovely refreshing swim in the ocean.
We usually have a Five o'clock Mythos by the pool. In this case it was a Hellas at 6 o'clock. After that we walked to town to find a good place to eat while the sun was setting behind the mountains.
Outside Taverna Poseidon we were captured by a young waitress who promised that we would get some real good food made by her grandmother. When her brother- we assume as he also talked about his grandmother - joined her, we went in.
We had a table - ordered Tzatziki, Garlic Bread, Stifado, and 2 Mythos.
The beers arrived quickly but then the wait began.
After a long wait a third waiter brought Garlic Bread. We asked for the Tzatziki but he didn't know about it. After another wait the waitress brought us the Stifado but no Tzatziki. We asked for it again and she went to fetch it. When she came back she said that the Tzatziki would be on the house since we had waited so long.
We tasted the Stifado - it was cold!!
I told the waitress - she said that she would talk to the kitchen, but our patience had run out, so we got up and left.
It is the first time we have experienced that in the many years we have been travelling to Greece.

We found a nice place in town called La Corte where we had Tzatziki and Garlic Bread with "Nutella" (olive pesto) and a lovely lambshank.
