Menetez - Arkasa - Finiki

Tuesday we headed for a small town called Lakki. It turned out to be so small that we changed direction to Menetez.

On the way we came to this memorial for the soldiers who fought the war against Germany and Italy.
As you can see the wind was still at full speed.
Arkasa was a little larger and as everywhere in Karpathos there were a lot of cats.
We had a coke on the town square and went sight seeing. We came across this little beauty of a church with a fine bell tower.
The small churches on the island were locked up. Its shamefull that it is necessary to lock up a church.
At Arkasa there were the ruins of a castle. You had to be imaginative to see the remains of the castle.
On a small peninsula there were some caves. They smelled like it was goats that had lived there.
South of Arkasa is the beach Agios Nicolaos (there are a few by that name on the island)
A lovely beach with quite big waves.
We continued north to Finiki where we had a Frappe before we went to the very lovely beach to swim and cool off.
We decided to have dinner at Taverna Sardeles with a view over the the sea.

We ordered some rose wine.

Waiter: Half a liter?
Us: A liter please.
Waiter: A whole liter??
Us: Yes we are used to share a bottle at home.
Waiter: A whole liter?? You guys really drink a lot.

Then he left and came back with a liter of rose wine for us with no further comments..
